NOTICE TO ALL ON CRAIGSLIST BUYING AND SELLING BIKES IN SOUTH FLORIDA - - There is a large theft scam that is occurring almost daily in the Miami area (primarily Kendall, Pinecrest, Kendall, Cutler Bay).
Group of thugs acting as buyers will meet you at a agreed to location, ask to test ride your bike (mostly newer dirt bikes, sport bikes, and yamaha banshees). They tell you they will pay close to your asking price and even more if you deliver the bike. Once you meet, they pull out what appears to be a wad of cash but only have a large bill with smaller bills underneath. In the blink of an eye your bike will be gone, and you'll be left with a total of $100 if you're lucky.

I've bought and sold several bikes and recently had this happen to me...it's not a matter of how safe you feel when showing the bike, it's if and how you can catch them in your vehicle and unless you have another bike it's obviously not likely. If they look like a duck, ride like a duck (measure their talent by how far they can wheelie their dirt bikes and off road vehicles on the road) and talk like a duck (can't spell or write/usually call from "throw away phones"), they they are going to try to rip you off. Don't let the ducks test ride your bikes, AT ALL.
Law enforcement is onto the group but because several are juveniles, they get slapped on the wrist and go back at it....keep these thieves where they belong, off our bikes and in prison.
