I am looking at getting a line-out dock for my ipod (video and nano), but am able to possibly make one or buy one. I can buy one for $25, or make one for like $15-20 but would have to take the time to gather parts (from online - out-of-country sources)/tools/etc to make it. Do you think I should just say screw it right now and buy one?

Its mostly for when you use amplification and headphones/earbuds/etc. The dock connection gives a better source for music opposed to the headphone out. Plus, by using the dock connection the music doesn't go through the ipod's version of amplification.
