not much oil/gas stuff in carolinas. all the big names are focusing on natural gas and shale gas more than anything. pa, wy, nd, sd, ny, etc.

This position may include the promotion of business plan objectives as they apply to health and safety, health safety and environmental auditing, industrial hygiene evaluation, fire protection systems, vessel entry supervision, incident investigation facilitation, root cause analysis, training, safety improvement team participation, pre-startup reviews, emergency drill participation, and Health and Safety policy development.

Position will support Transportation's West Coast Division which includes facilities in California, and Washington state.
Qualifications

Basic/Required
Bachelor's degree check
Legally authorized to work in the United States on a regular full-time basis without restrictions. check
3+ years of direct experience of applicable Federal, State, and Local rules and regulations as they apply to occupational health and safety. pretty close
3+ years of direct experience with Hazwoper regulatory requirements and emergency response management. pretty close
TWIC card eligibility. check

Preferred
ASP/CSP/CIH certifications. (have gsp in may, pretty much the same thing if not above the asp)
API Tank Entry Supervisor (TES) Certification (desirable).
Broad knowledge of Transportation equipment, facilities, and processes.
Effective presentation and team building skills as well as the ability to influence others.
Must be able to work well with all levels of the organization.
Ability to recognize hazards, assess risk and suggest an appropriate mitigation plan.
Ability to represent Transportation safety and health programs to outside agencies and organizations.

nah not a chemist.

just managed to go to a real reputable fire protection and safety program for undergrad and now at a real reputable program for occupational safety and health. the fire protection program does a lot of the same stuff as the osh degree, but covers a lot more being an engineering based program. probably pick up an MBA or operations management masters when i finally get somewhat settled. say 4-5 years down the line after some years under my belt and some certifications under my belt. who knows the navy is still tempting. hopefully they call this week, navy ocs recruiters-wise.
