Looking to build a PC i dont know much about computers i just want something that i can multitask, play games if i would like, just a all around good computer. i have a parts list and i would like some one to look it over and see if i am headed in the right direction. Basically my budget is ~700$. heres the link to the parts

Windows 8 is faster and much better on resources. I like it better than Windows 7, you just have to use something like classic shell, start8, etc.

Word. W8 has lots of improvements over W7. The touch shit and apps are the annoying part.

Another vote for 8 instead of 7 here. 7 is lipstick on a pig, it's just Vista R2. I posted a whole bunch about why I'm loving 8 in the IT thread but here's the cliff's notes:

1. Yes, 8 has Metro annoyance, but that's easily ignored or removed. Everybody talks like it's all up in yo face but it's not. It greets you when you login, you hit Esc and you never see it again.

2. The bigger annoyance is the flattened, non-3D controls and lists.

3. 8 is faster, manages resources better, and the interface is snappier, much more responsive. Every new Microsoft OS makes those claims and it's always been utter bullshit. This time it's actually true.

4. 8 actually has useful features added instead of crap features. ISO mounting, better task mangler/performance monitor, built-in PDF viewer, and plenty of others.

5. Classic Shell and a few other free small tweaks make it awesome.

6. The Windows Explorer file mangler, which has been my biggest complaint in Vista and 7, has not only been improved to be as good as XP's, but is actually faster and better.

OK so we got a windows 7/8 debate but how about the hardware. I am more worried about that.

Hardware looks pretty good. Pick up a cheap optical drive and get a aftermarket CPU cooler if your going to overclock. The RAM is almost the same I use and same with the GPU.

Eh, I would rather just stick with windows 7, much simpler IMO. Especially if you are an average user without a huge IT background and might have trouble removing that stupid metro ui shit. I've always been against 8, even with it's good points, so I'm very very biased though.

Can get a blu-ray drive for less than $50 easy now, I would go ahead and get one.

I would go ahead and get a cooler master hyper 212 or something cheap and effective like that for an aftermarket cpu cooler. I would rather have an aftermarket one regardless if you are planning to overclock or not, I just hate the stock coolers intel and amd have.

I don't think anybody posting those parts is someone who can't handle turning off metro (or just hitting the Esc key).

Once you install Classic Shell to get the Start menu back, 8 is exactly as simple as 7, just much better in most ways. I installed Classic Shell on 7 too, to get the Up arrow back in Windows Explorer...

I'm the eternal skeptic when it comes to Microsoft OSes. The first one I ever liked was XP and that wasn't until many years after it came out. I will admit to liking Server 2008 from the beginning (in a way similar to how I like 8 -- while it was stuck being a heavier version of Vista, what I liked was the more powerful command line and server functionality), but 8 is the first desktop Windows I've liked from the get-go.

OP, on the hardware issue, that looks great and I'm jealous, but why only 8GB of RAM when you're spending so much on everything else?

Actually that's not accurate. I grudgingly installed it recently, resigning myself to the misery of using it, because I know for my career I need experience with it. The ram comes with a bundle from the CPU you get the CPU,2x4gb of ram and a water cooler kit. I can always upgrade I need to save some money to spend on a monitor.

That should be fine. I've had bad experience with water cooling but it was because I bought a setup off of someone that was pieced together. A single water cooler for the CPU should be nice.
