Gotta protect the cut end somehow, prevent short circuits. I tend to use tape.
Can use knife if you want it to be tedious and annoying. Use a very sharp knife, that helps. There's really nothing quite like using a good quality stripper though.

if you already have a radio then adding a system is nothing: 1. power wire from battery to amp 2. ground from amp to body 3. RCA cables from amp to radio 4. power wire from amp to radio 5. speaker wire from amp to subs done. the "hardest" part of installing subs is taking apart some interior to hide wires and getting the power through the firewall.. which isn't even hard, just takes a little while sometimes.

I have these. Used them for 6+ years w no problems. I just use the cutting part to strip wires. but I've learned a shortcut since I strip a billion wires a day it seems. never have used a pair of actual strippers.
