take the belt off but not all the way just off the alt

then disconnect battery

then take off alt wire and unplug harness

then take off the upper mounting bolts

then the bottom and presto its off

reverse order to re install

Alternator at vatozone is $130-250 depending on which one you pick (this is for my 01, is probably the same for yours). So you can save quite a bit if you do it yourself. It also depends which alternator he is quoting you for, he may be putting a nicer one in.

I'd do it myself since it's easy but up to you brah.

The $129 alt from vatozone is a remanufactured police alt. Puts out more powah. Kinda want.

If mine takes a shit, will definitely be replacing with popo version for more powah.

is srsly easy, will just need a few wrenches or sockets and a ratchet. Here are the most detailed instructions I can think of:

- put ratchet in the square hole in the tensioner (little arm with a wheel on the end that keeps the belt tight) and rotate ratchet counter clockwise to loosen the belt, slide it off the alternator.
- disconnect your battery
- unscrew positive wire from alternator (10mm bolt under the little rubber cover) and unplug the wire harness from the alt.
- take off the upper mounting bolts
- take off lower mounting bolts
- take alt to vatozone to get core charge back $$

reverse to reinstall new one
