Depends on the model...

For example, the E3 is a battery...E5 is rechargeable...E7 is rechargeable...USB to charge.

The higher quality more expensive ones are all rechargeable, IIRC.

The amps? It depends, some or replaceable batteries and some are rechargeable.

reason i ask is cuz my fm modulator thing on my truck gets sucky ass audio from that thing. I have to crank up the mp3 volume as well as the radio's volume and even then the quality isnt there. If I can get that amp thingie to work with my shit, it would be so win.

Eddah - get an Line Out Dock (LOD) more than an amp...the LOD comes from the dock connector and doesn't go through the headphone out. You will probably see a difference in sound more than probably an amp, but its hard to say.

In ipods, Apple designed them to have like a built-in "amp" which effects the sound frequencies. The use of a LOD makes the sound go through the dock and misses the apple "amp."

FM modulators blow...I had one, and gave it away.

try to find an fm modulator on ebay from before the fcc made all the bullshit requirements on them.

this thing u plug in ur antenna to that, then it has an antenna "out" that goes to the deck....flip a switch, it kills the antenna and feeds it is own audio coming from the mp3 via a station..forgot which one

supposed to be best type of modulators out there

I think you guys are talking about FM transmitters. AFAIK the FCC hasn't interefered with FM modulators, nor had any reason to.

There are a few FM transmitters that are kinda OK but most of them are terrible. You'd think some company would sell one that's easy to hack for better-than-allowed tx power but AFAIK there's nothing like that.

If you use the D1 than an amp may be your only choice.

May require some searching on head-fi, definitely some interesting stuff over there.

THAT is a modulator.

One that just transmits through the air is a transmitter.

Im pretty sure they did. The old ones use to play through other peoples radios when you were at a stop light

now the new ones barely play through your own radio.

I dont know anymore. We used Paychex but he quit using them last year and went with this other company and did not tell us who they were.
