Those are the only two things holding me back...let alone, my other two pair of sony earbuds are still kicking...not by much, by still going.

$20-30 is easily justifiable for a pair of decent IEMs, $150 is pushing it. When I have a full-time career that may be a different story.

In reality though, the only time I would wear a pair is at the gym. At the gym, why someone would wear an expensive pair of IEMs is beyond me...as they are more susceptible to breaking/getting broken.

What are people buying for over the ears that are relatively cheap? Or is there no decent cheap over the ears?

I have an ancient pair of Sonys that look like this:

They've got a 25ft coiled cord with a gold-plated end and a 1/8->1/4 adapter that screws on instead of merely being friction-fit. They still sound great but the cover on the cushion is rotted.

I have to take a picture of my cheapo 1980s generic Walkman style headphones...it's oddly hard to find a good picture on Google Images even though they used to be ubiquitous.
