Eric Watson Correct me if my wrong, but if you are a former Harvard University dean of law and former University of Chicago law professor, you already know the law of the land in and out, probably better than most people already on the bench. If you are a former White House council and current Solicitor General of the United States, you know the law of the ...

Tulsa - Morning fog and drizzle will give way to a high risk of severe weather including tornadoes by afternoon.

A strong low pressure system will move into the southern Plains by this afternoon. At the same time a warm front, currently across northern Texas, will lift northward across the state.

Warm and humid air to the south of the warm front will spread over the region and a dryline will become established just west of I-35.

As strong westerly winds pushes the dryline east and it interacts with the warm, moist and unstable air to the east the stage will then be set for rapid development of severe storms.

Storms that form will quickly become severe and begin to rotate. There is a good chance for damaging tornadoes, some of which could be long-lived. The area with the highest risk of severe weather is northeastern Oklahoma and southeastern Kansas

Watches will likely be issued later this afternoon for much of the region. Storms will move into the Tulsa area after 7pm today.

Now is the time to prepare your home for threatening weather and review your families safety plans.

If you find yourself under a tornado warning here are a few things to remember:

* The safest place to be is an underground shelter, basement, or safe room.
* If you don't have a shelter find a windowless interior room or hallway on the lowest level of you home or business.
* If you live in a mobile home leave and go to the nearest sturdy building before the storm strikes.
* If you are outdoors, find a sturdy building or shelter to get into.
* If you are able and there is enough time, get into your vehicle, buckle-up and drive to the nearest shelter.
* Should you be in your car during a tornado find a low area like a ditch to get into. Cover your head. NEVER seek shelter under a bridge or overpass.

Stay with News Channel 8 and KTUL.com as we will continue to track this dangerous weather situation.
