OIC. :shake:
any type of spool = off-road/race use only
I want electric lockers. I just want to flip a switch when I get stuck in deep snow and get all 4 tires turning.
Sorry dude, I didn't see your question!
Its basically full time posi no matter what. I chose the mini spool over the full spool so I would have 1 weak point in the driveline. I'd rather replace a $50 minispool than an axleshaft, yoke, driveshaft, or pinion shaft. |
think ima go run and find some nomz

smart :shake: usually yoke pops first...maybe u-joint too |
I can't wait to tear the cover off the front and see the carnage
pics plz

If the minispool breaks, does the truck drive like it's got an open diff, so you could still drive off the trail (as long as your buddies tow you through mud)? Or do you get stuck and you have to open up the diff trailside to install some new stuff?

With it being a Ford 9" replacing it is not as hard b/c you actually remove the entire 3rd member to work on it instead of having to work under the truck. You pull 4 bolts on each side, slide the axles out, unbolt the 3rd member and the ring, pinion, yoke, carrier, diff etc comes out as a whole |
:fp: Oh yeah, I forgot about FWD still working.
---------- Post added at 12:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:33 PM ---------- I don't do any real off-roading, the type that breaks stuff. If I find a trail I'll roll through it as much as my stock truck will go without breaking, that's as much as I can afford. |
The truck will go anywhere I point it as it is (minus front end broken)
So I'd imagine with it being geared, locked, etc it should be damn near unstoppable |
Unstoppable truck FTW!
After I finish this little project, I plan to pull the heads and have them shaved, cam it, and finally stuff a 4bbl on it
a locker will deff help you get through rough shit...problem is you can get "too much" traction and like yaybo said...you start breaking weak shit...being a 9", theres hardly any weak points since hes probably got 31 spline axles...the yoke and ujoint would probably snap before axles and maybe mineh spool.
I hate cobbaraytuz.
they work good when they work good...if not...bitch to tune if you dont know what youre doing :(
Yeah, I'm not worried about breaking stuff the way I use the truck now. I wouldn't lock the diffs until I was already stuck, and I'd only be stuck in snow or possibly really slick mud anyway.
e-locker :imo:
I was gonna do the 5.13 gears, but I don't plan on running any tire bigger than the current ones. I have no need for them. Plus with it being a 3spd (C6) it'll be low geared enough with 4.88s I think.
