i run whatever oil is free at my store. whatever comes in slighty leaking off the truck goes home with me. this last time was valvoline max life synthetic blend 5w30, plus we had 9 discontinued oil filters that fit my truck since we switched brands. so i got all of them for 3 bucks.

oil change each for next 9 months = $.33 each

yup. when teh old man and i went through that engine he ground and massaged shit so it's loose as hell. it costs me a little in the area of efficiency but i like erring on the side of causing when im cruising for hours on end at 200-225 degrees. :uhoh: i ran 10w30 all winter since i was in KY alot with it. below zero temps FTL.

That's exactly the oil I put in my truck. My piston slap got louder and it generally sounds kinda crappy when it's cold even after piston slap goes away. I hope when I put SuperTech back in it sounds better again...I'm worried about it. :(

yea like i said i run whatevers free lol. i mean long as its clean and lubricated what diff can it make what oil i use in south ga?

When my new engine goes in now i may buy supertech synthetic and roll it every time just sucks walmart is 45 miles away from me.

i did read on bob is the oil guy that in the gen III motors the best results come back from 5w40 rotella synthetic. shit aint cheap though.

idk what im gonna run. any recommendation in a cammed ls1?
