GM Powertrain lists the recommended operating temperature for the 4L60 to be 160-210 degrees. That covers normal driving and pulling a load. Don't freak the fuck out over a fluid temperature that's less than your engine coolant's temperature. :security:

DNW running close to maximum.

Consider the 4L60E's reputation for longevity in full size pickups...obviously GM hasn't set all of their requirements correctly, and I'm betting maximum temp is one of them.

$240, only two pieces of data visible at a time, only 60 seconds of data stored, no averaging, no recording of maximums...hell, for less than $240 you can buy a ScanGauge II and a blendmount to make it look OEM by flush-mounting it behind your dash.

AFAIK that's the most common place but it can be used for any OEM-looking mount including flush mounting inside dash panels, etc.

This is true. After 25 miles or so at 70mph+ mine holds steady at about 170 on my gauge. I've never seen it hit 200 with the cooler i have though. that includes barreling up a 9% grade in sam's gap at 70mph in 3rd gear.

Manbearpig 04-05-2010 06:50 PM

My stock tranny cooler must be a bamf

:( Even with my OEM HD towing package upgraded cooler, I was above 190 yesterday.
