Yeah I got my intake because I like the sound of it over the factory one, I got a good deal on it used, and it came with a filter that doesn't require constant changing.

I don't think I got any performance from it on my stock engine.

stock compression for the 5.0 and 5.7 vortecs was ~9.4:1. i have a slightly thinner head gasket thus raising it just a bit.
