:big_banana_Dance:

Netbook came in. It came with XP and Vista CDs, and XP is installed. I'm going to triple-boot XP, Vista, and 7, and maybe I'll throw some Linux on there just for the hell of it...

Anyone know how to triple-boot XP, Vista, and 7? Or should I just like the Linux bootloader handle it...

Cez★ 10-15-2009 04:05 PM

My computer at home is dual booting XP and 7. All you should have to do is make 2 more partitions for V/7 and then install them one at a time to those partitions. I think V and 7 are fairly good with adjusting the bootloader to list all 3, although it will probably say something like "Windows 7" "Previous Version of Windows" and "Previous Version of Windows" so if you are QUAD booting with Linux, make sure Linux is last because I think grub does a better job of actually showing what OS each one is.

I just figured it out...he wants the laptop I've been using for network diagnostics to go to a user. That's ok, it's a beast and I'll be glad to see it gone. Edit: I'm talking about why my boss ordered the netbook.

stonehenge 10-15-2009 04:33 PM

My laptop isn't very big but I'll be happy when its even smaller/lighter. The tiny screen wont bother me one bit.

What kind of NB did he get you?

theholycow 10-15-2009 04:38 PM

Got any recommendations for a partition resizing program? Something non-instally (portable) or on a livecd, and non-bullshitty too.

I can't find a model number other than HSTNN I70C. It says "HP Mini".

I'll have to get a case for it. I assume there must be plenty of netbook cases/bags on the market now.

stonehenge 10-15-2009 04:43 PM

Ah yes, I forgot you mentioned it was an HP. As for partitioning, I've been pretty happy with GParted. It comes in a LiveCD and is linux based with full GUI, very easy to use.

theholycow 10-15-2009 04:46 PM

Does it automatically resize NTFS fileystems before adjusting the partition size?

I believe so. When you open it up it will show your HD and one huge partition (unless there is a recovery one on your NB). Then you just choose the move/resize option and drag the right side of the partition to make it smaller. Then you click the blank space and add a new one. Easy as pie (mmm pie)

So apparently there is a LiveCD for Google's Android OS. The OS right now is only on phones but this CD will boot up on any x86 machine. :hmm: Time to play

theholycow 10-15-2009 05:12 PM

Where can I get the Android liveCD?

Yes sir, was about to post it for ya. It looks a little funny on a big monitor since so far its only been on cell phones. I think they eventually plan to have it run on tablets and netbooks and whatnot though. I think there is one that is getting ready to be released with Android in the near future. I want to say its an Acer but I forget.

Cez★ 10-15-2009 05:53 PM
