actually yes. :read:

ambient temperature has far less to do with fluid temperature than the terrain/driving style/vehicle weight do. :read:

My trans can get pretty warm sometimes, close to 200. I like to be a little ruff on her when I probably should be. That is why I want to upgrade. So I don't even have to worry about this problem.

as long as u dont go below operating temps, youll be fine

Chadster08 03-10-2010 10:20 PM

which is? On a nice day, my truck runs about 135 ish.

No such thing, brah. I don't care what they say, reality is that there's no temperature too low. Heat is the transmission's enemy. Take it from someone whose 4L60E is 193,000 miles old and still going (even after some occasional heavy towing).

AFAIK you can use stock lines.

135 is good...150ish hwy...180ish towing would be OK :imo: chris probably knows more than me

GM lists "normal" operating temp for the 4/6 speed/allison to be 160-200 degrees

theholycow 03-10-2010 10:25 PM

What do they list as "normal" for 4L60E?

fyi that gauge is a glorified idiot light. did justin tell you your trans temp via the laptop on your tuning run?

within "normal" operating range

im guessing those figures factor in all kinds of variables including towing.
