im having a hard time finding out wtf is the problem with a dash light dimmer switch. dash has exposed copper stip where bulb socket plugs into and makes contact. Strands are independent of eachother but both have 12v going to them....how the fuck do u get the bulb to light up if u no haz ground?

How are you measuring 12v? Did you measure one pole from GND > socket, and the other side from the dimmer switch to the socket? Dimmer switch might have a short.

Brah, i dont want nomz.....ima get moar seks or hall pass for a day or two :secret:

theholycow 04-06-2011 07:55 PM

Maybe one is +12v and the other is -12v, providing 24v to the bulb?

2005_Silverado 04-06-2011 07:56 PM

multimeter no showed "-12"

and i know it does show -12 cuz Ive seen it before...idk where pero I got it to show -12v some other time I was using it

SarkOzy 04-06-2011 07:58 PM

Okay, but that socket is fed off the dimmer switch first.

In theory it IS possible to have 12v on each pole, given the "normal" position of the dimmer is 12v, and the dim position is grounded. I know that doesn't make sense but every dimmer switch is different.

2005_Silverado 04-06-2011 07:58 PM

so ur saying the dimmer controls the ground side? :hmm: interesting

2005_Silverado 04-06-2011 08:02 PM

this be how to test rheostat :hmm:

Okay, confessional time.

Despite my best efforts to FBGM, the kY lady is intriguing to me. I legitimately LIKE her, unlike pretty much just accepting nLg and Teesher. We first met a few months ago when I was in kY, and I hung out with her and her friends for a weekend not long after that. Gonna stay at her house this Thursday when I get up to kY. Going to Lexington Fri-Sat though for Keeneland.
