that happened to BB by "accident" too :secretshake:

Yeah you can, you need a file manager like Linda/Astro/etc and you select the file and choose "Send".

It was an overzealous hypermiling accident...I was in neutral coasting down a hill and I went to put it in neutral...

pero N coasting down hill = less mpg than coasting in D...inyectors no shut off when in N and they do in D....that be why SGII reads 99999mpg when ur in instant mpg reading and ur coasting.

That might be good if my truck did DFCO, but it has an 8 second delay. So for 8 seconds it's at higher RPM using more fuel (even with throttle closed).

However, that's only part of the story. Sure, during DFCO fuel is entirely off, but you lose more speed than coasting in N. All those extra engine revolutions don't come for free, they use energy. You're gonna hafta re-accelerate sooner. In the end, neutral with engine idling uses less energy (and therefore less fuel).

Disregard Females, Coast Often? :dunnocinamonroll:

theholycow 04-05-2010 07:12 PM

Deceleration Fuel Cut Off, though Disregard Females Coast Often is good too.

I did notice that in D, youd slow down faster, pero in N Id get like 50mpg, not 9999999999999mpg :pepper: In my case, the downhill section was pretty steep and short and with traffic, so no haz to try to get farther cuz I was tapping my brakes all the way down anyways. I have noticed some cars slow down less than others in D though. My mom's 01' Marquis WOULD NOT slow down going down a 6% grade like my 00 RCSB would. Id eventually get up to comperable speeds but it took me a lot longer...mebeh it was cuz her car was lower, heavier and with narrower tires? :hmm:

theholycow 04-05-2010 07:17 PM

:shake: For sure, if you need to slow or use your brakes, DFCO is better than neutral coasting.

BTW, while I talk theory here, it is all backed up with my experience...I consistently track my fuel economy in everything I drive.

Her car probably has taller gears and a torque converter that unlocks more readily, but mainly it's because far less aerodynamic drag. Narrower tires don't help, they're actually worse.

Jeff, maybe you can help with my Buick problem...I need to find the fitting that goes between the fuel line nut and the carburetor and holds the fuel filter in on my Quadrajet. Supposedly it's common but I only found a couple sources online and no stores locally. I'm not sure if the ones I found online are right. Any tips?

It's the part with both red and green lines on it:
