yeah my ipod didn't have a wall charger either, you just plug it into the computer or get a wall/cig usb charger.

Check the manual brah cuz that's a pretty dumb idea if they don't let you charge/listen at the same time IMMFO

wan, can u look up manual? all sony sites are blocked here :blah: NWZ-S545 :chuy:

stonehenge 12-15-2009 04:51 PM

Well see the issue comes down to one thing. Only one device can access the players memory at one time. When you aren't plugged in, the player has access to the memory/music. When you plug it into USB the player goes "oh snaps a computer" and gives access to the computer it is connected to. Most newer mp3 players and phones and whatnot can either tell that it is just a power source, NOT a computer and therefore let you listen to music. Some will ask you too, something like "Connect to Computer?". If you say Yes then no listening to music, if you say no it just charges.

Lemme looks eddeh

From Sony manual

Quote:

You cannot operate the player when it is connected to a computer. Disconnect the USB
cable before operating the player.
The player consumes battery power very slightly even when it is in standby mode.
Therefore, the player might turn completely off unexpectedly depending on the power
remaining in the battery.

stonehenge 12-15-2009 05:10 PM

:high5:

I was REALLY happy with my touch. The only reason I got rid of it was because after I got this beast phone I srsly didn't touch it again. I thought I would but I didn't lol

theholycow 12-15-2009 05:10 PM

You can get USB power output doohickeys for 12v and wall outlets.

My Sansa will play off USB power if there's no data connection from the USB, just power.

2005_Silverado 12-15-2009 05:13 PM

I forgot I have like 3 of those usb wall plug thingies from me Pre :slap: I have a 12v one I used for my 700wx too....but its no good if I cant play music while it charges...I'll try the 12v one when I get home...but its likely going back to BB.

stonehenge 12-15-2009 05:14 PM

def give it a try tho, like i said some can tell if it is JUST power and no data and they'll charge/play at the same time

if thats the case you can get a $1.99 cig usb charger from monoprice :jester:

I would use Pre as mp3 but dont want to stuff it with music and slow it down. Plus its only got like edit: 6.6 gigs left and I have 4.5 in music so far.

theholycow 12-15-2009 05:16 PM

Wait, so what were you plugging it into to charge before that was giving it a USB data connection?

2005_Silverado 12-15-2009 05:19 PM

THC, plugged to PC

wan, I have 6.6 left :blah:

---------- Post added at 08:19 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:16 AM ----------

minez came with 16gb microsd card :whoa: so I be good so far. Can you expand your memory with an sd card or is it all internal? Either way I have like NO internal, all storage is on the card.

mira $1 lol http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

damn micro usbs be whored out. The only micro usb cable available is the 15ft one. It's still only $2 though :roflmao: http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

theholycow 12-15-2009 05:32 PM

When you have it plugged into the PC, just let the PC do the playing. Any music playing program can play music that is stored on a USB device unless it's something like an iPod that stores music in a proprietary format.

stonehenge 12-15-2009 05:34 PM

o ya that is actually the ONLY thing I don't like about iPods, you have to use ghey iTunes or there are a few other free programs that will do it. I've never really liked iTunes. I mush prefer to drag and drop in whatever folder structure I want.

theholycow 12-15-2009 05:41 PM

There's a couple other things to dislike about iPods...the ridiculous price, and the proprietary accessories (though AFAIK most can use standard accessories too, 3.5mm and USB stuff).

SarkOzy 12-15-2009 05:41 PM

Lunch time. :pepperjest:

I bought a cradle and case for it but besides that I didn't have to buy any proprietary stuff. The cradle/case would have had to be specific to ANY device.

Well i did buy a cig charger but I could have gone the usb cig lighter route, which is what I do now for everything that has a usb cable.

theholycow 12-15-2009 05:46 PM

I hate cradles!

stonehenge 12-15-2009 05:54 PM

Well its not so much a cradle, it doesn't sit in it. It was a window mount that you snap teh iPawd into so it wasn't sitting in my cupholder. I want to get one for my phone but the only one out so far is made by Motorola and is $30 :blah:

2005_Silverado 12-15-2009 05:57 PM

i guess I could play through wmp  Ima have to find me 12v usb charger :hmm:
