That could actually be an interesting discussion...

1987 Cadillac Deville: IIRC about 40,000 miles, 1 year, gave it to my girlfriend (now wife), she kept it for a few years but I don't know how many miles. If I knew then what I know now, I'd still have that car now. I could now properly fix everything that was wrong then; and I'm not afraid of getting stuck roadside anymore.

1997 Pontiac Grand Am SE V6: 154,000 miles, 5 years. Liked it when it was almost brand new (bought in 1998 with 16,000 miles), hated it after a while. At 130,000 it needed the engine replaced and then I REALLY resented it. Loaned it to aunt at 170,000 so I could DD the 2002 GMC Sierra my family business bought, then aunt bought it from me. She got it to at least 200,000 the last I heard. I feel better about that car knowing that someone got some happy use out of it.

1997 Ford Ranger 4x4 4.1: Not a lot of miles, not long. Hand-me-down from dad, but the same issues that made us not want him driving it also made us not want me driving it. Also we had money, so in 2002...

2002 GMC Sierra SLE 4x4 5.3 ecsb: Bought brand new, still have. 200,000 miles and shitloads of rust because I didn't care for it properly. I bought it out of the family business in 2007 but it's always been my truck.

1980 Buick LeSabre Limited coupe 4.1: Now 51,000 miles. Grandparent hand-me-down, received with 35,000 miles and lots of sun/dry rot as well as fuel/brake line corrosion in 2005. Put 3000 miles on it then parked it because I couldn't afford to insure a toy car. Last summer converted to stick shift and made into my DD.
:gB:

Should I bother with my travel trailer, lawnmower, wife's cars, company vehicles that weren't specific to me, and cool rented equipment I operated a lot? :jester:

How many miles have you owned it for, though?

race2c 07-02-2011 03:30 PM

1987 Cavalier - probably around 1 year or so.

1969 Chevy C10 RCSB 355/Auto/2wd - like 2 months, sat in the garage...:fp2: shouldn't have sold it.

1989 Chevy Silverado RCSB 4x4 Z71 - about 1.5 years, 10xxx miles or so

1993 Pontiac Grand Prix - got it with 80xxx or so from my sister, who bought it from the original owners. I got rid of it with 117xxx miles.

2006 Dodge Ram 1500 RCSB 3.7 v6/2wd - got it with 15xxx miles in aug 07, still have it and has 49xxx miles after about 4 years of ownership.

2001 Ford Explorer Sport 2door. Bought November 2008 at 93k miles. Sold February 2011 at 107k. So I owned it for 14k miles. Motor was running strong took a couple of road trips in it.

2009 GMC SIERRA SLE. Bought February 2011 with 19,221 miles. Currently has 23664.

BillyJeanKing 07-02-2011 05:39 PM

extra credit to anyone who can guess why tembo has so mash miles on it

:sneaky:

RM90 07-02-2011 05:43 PM

stonehenge 07-03-2011 12:56 AM

it is obviously a race car that has seen MANY laps

---------- Post added at 04:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:53 PM ----------

96 Chevy K1500 - got it around 03 from my pops. I think it had around 90k on it but it was probably less. When I got rid of it last year it had 164k so 7 years, 74k

93 Nissan Sentra - shit I don't remember when we got it or how many miles it had. I wanna say we've put around 20k on it and have had it for about 3 years by now.

01 Furd Crawn Veek - Bought it in November with 34k, it just turned 40k yesterday or the day before. :emo:

BillyJeanKing 07-03-2011 12:58 AM

Yup, you definitely fucked up there.

I've had my 87 for 8 years now, been sitting for about 3 or so now. Paint is fucked up from sitting in the sun without a cover, some interior is fucked from the sun also. No clue how many miles I have put on it.

Bought my 05 new, think it has around 80,000 or so on it. Gonna have it for a long ass time more than likely too.

Dubyagee 07-03-2011 01:09 AM

1981 Toyota pickup. Sold it at 513000. 22R auto. Ice cold AC.

1986 Pontiac Grand Am. Sold at 225000. Everything worked when sold.

1993 Silverado. 320000. 305 Stick.

2000 Silverado. 250000 so far. 4.8 FLT 4l60E. Looks and runs like new.

Thats just the ones I have driven a lot. I have owned 18 vehicles to date.

Thanks Mike I appreciate those great comments. Not like I haven't learned my lesson the day after I sold it.

My list of piles ......rough mileage estimates, some are only duration of ownership. Prices are just part of the story in some cases

:trolldad:

80 Camaro Z28
Bought 8/2000 as first car for $250 with 125k miles? Got it running with .75$ fuel line and a few quarts of ATF. Kept it for 4 years DFK how many miles I put on it but the motor was replaced with a hot 355 after the lifters mushroomed on year 2

1990 5.0 LX Hatch (for profit)
bought 9/2002 for $500 with 120k miles and blown headgaskets, spent $100 on gaskets and coolant and sold for $2500 a week later. Should have kept it and sold off the camaro

1987 Firebird Formula 5.0 (LG4 305 with quadrajet)
bought in 2/2003 for $1200 to drive while the camaro was down. Car had 120k miles and the most perfect 3rd gen interior I have ever seen. Car was wrecked in 6/2003 by a stupid old lady who ran a redlight in a dodge neon; also took out a concrete bus bench, curb and a streetsign in the same accident. Car drove home crooked with the steering wheel 90* off. insurance paid $3600 for it :roflmao:

91 S10 Blazer 4.3 AKA "King POS"
Bought 9/2003 as a beater to drive after formula wreck......thought it had 160k miles but it was probably more like 360k. Ex fleet truck that hardly ever saw service since the cam/main bearings died a horrible squealing death after 10k miles of ownage. Disassembly revealed 1" of sludge buildup in the cam valley, several blocked oil drain passages and caked up valvesprings. replaced with 130k mile 94 Vortec motor from rolled truck......my truck also rolled over after motor install; ironically it was exactly a year after the Formula wreck (bad juju?)

1989 mustang 5.0 GT vert/1988 LX Coupe
bought 8/2004 @114k miles for $1300 at a chevy dealership. Bad t5 replaced with ford racing trans, headgaskets popped @120k, owned for 8 years and god knows how much money invested in speed parts. Stripped to build the 1988 Coupe 10/2009.

1993 mustang LX 2.3 coupe
bought from original owner with 180k miles with bad clutch/T5 for $500 in 2005. Car was a base model stripper, power nothing black coupe with immaculate black cloth interior. Installed new $120 autozone valeo clutch, $20 timing belt and a set of 16" Pony's from the 89 GT...... drove with grinding 1/2 synchro for 2 years and sold for $850 at about 198k miles. Could shift through 4 gears without clutch as long as I revved it above 3500. Motor had such low compression that it would randomly roll downhill if parked in my buddy's steep driveway. I came out a few times and it was blocking the street :roflmao:. Took many 300 mile roadtrips in this car aside from daily driver duty while the 5.0 was acting up. Also survived a 20 mile drive through the full force of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and ran over a few trees in the process.

2006 Silverado 1500 4.3
bought in 2/2007 with 14.5k miles from original owner; deal too good to pass up. Now has 57k miles. Just add gas and change the oil regularly.......

1988 LX 5.0 Coupe

Bought in 10/2009 as a roller with 6 point cage for $800. Stripped/parted out and transplanted all goodies from the 89 Vert to the 1988 Coupe. Between selling off the remains of the GT chassis and some unneeded parts that came with the coupe this project only cost $50 in the end. Sold this year with 138K miles

TATERNATER 07-03-2011 06:26 AM

91 t bird v-6 had it for a year mabe 150 miles on it. heads warped so I sold it.
97 :yook: 2door bought july 11, 2003 w/ 39k on it. @ 200k nao
83 hilux 4x4 had it for a year and sold it for 1500 once I got it running (picked up for $200)
05 600 cbr rr bought new sold in 09 for $5k with 5k on it... first droped it with 45 miles on it fyi.
