93 was the last year if the Fox body mustangs. I also had a fully built SVO turbo 2.3 and holset he351 ready for that coupe before I bought the silverado and sold everything off.

owning 2 mustangs at once was a total nightmare.

Why? I would imagine that it would help having more compatible parts and such.

My friend had a 1980 Mustang LX 4 banger, he got it for $500, I talked shit about it but it was tough as nails...he beat on it, before I got my license I beat on it, and it just kept going forever.

black06 07-03-2011 07:15 PM

well I had a 5.0 GT and a 2.3 coupe, with a turbo swap waiting to go in the coupe. The problem came about when I bought a full tubular k-member kit and rear suspension setup and I couldn't decide which car to go "all out" on. I guess I wanted everything to go fast back in those days and spent all my money trying to accomplish that goal.

One week I wanted to junk the vert and convert the 4 banger to V8 with all the suspension; the next week I was going to run the turbo swap setup. Way too many choices and possibilities:facepalm:

Bought my 88' in 01, broken odo. but comparing how many miles I've put on other vehicles, I'd say 100K miles is a low estimate. It's now sitting in my driveway waiting for a LS swap since it spun a main bearing.

Bought my 04 grand prix GTP in sep. 08. Totaled sep. 10, put 26K miles on it.

Bought my 03 Yukon Denali in nov. 10, to date I've put 5K miles on it.

Got a FREE 85 nissan 720 RCSB 2wd in 05. Put 1 miles on it so far getting it running when I got it (it had sat for 8 years before it was given to me). Last weekend I finally winched it onto a car hauler and towed it home with the yukon. After 20 minutes changing the oil, swaping the battery in from the 88, and 2 gallons of fresh gas (on top of 5 gallons of shit from 05) it took its first trip around the block. Nice thing is it's only got 80K miles, so it should be a good summer DD for quite a few years, with only about $250 into it including gas for the yukon to tow it here, new belt, plugs, 2 oil changes, and various fluids/cleaners.

theholycow 07-05-2011 01:57 AM

You put 2 gallons of fresh into 5 gallons that are 6 years old and a carbureted engine that sat for 14 years ran? Wow. Carburetors do not carburet quite so well for me on such stale fuel.

Three pedals or two?

Cez★ 07-05-2011 02:02 AM

u best say 3. otherwise cao will be like moo moo ( thats cao for plz go)

stonehenge 07-05-2011 02:15 AM

2 ftlw (for the lazy win)

:cheeky:

chevy_man 07-05-2011 03:12 AM

3 pedals FTW!
The gas when I got it five years ago wouldn't burn, and I had to use a pick to "clean"(scrape) the float bowl. I drained old gas and put 5 gallons in, bottle of sta-bil, and drove it up and down the alley once before I parked it. I honestly couldn't believe it ran on the shit-gas in the tank. The exhaust smells so bad it's un-real but it purrs like a kitten. I'm expecting I'll have to change the fuel filter about 100000 times before the lines and tank are half-way clean.

I originally was going to start driving it right away, but when I left for college I still didn't have the title, and it made a good lawn ornament at my parents place. I finally got the title a month ago, which is what renewed my interest in getting it going.

The bad: no options, not even a fm radio. At one point someone left a window down so I need to clean the moss that's growing on the floor out. Nothing that can't be fixed with a pressure washer and one of the old decks and a random free set of pioneer 6x9's I've got in the basement.

theholycow 07-05-2011 03:16 AM

No options is kinda nice. :gB: is pretty bare-bones too.

black06 07-05-2011 03:38 AM

speaking of old project cars.....I just found my uncracked D-port 2.3 turbo head sitting in my friend's scrap pile. Snatched that fucker up quick in case I find a cheap 2.3 87-89 fox coupe.

Made 2-3 runs before it sucked in all the water and just stopped dead on its tracks  Pops pulled me out with tractor, pulled plugs off, cranked and it was spewing mud out. Changed oil pero had NASTY rod nawk and low oil psi. FIDIL and threw in heavy ass weight oil, and called it a day. Getting on le freeway one night, it just popped, threw rod out the side of the block and locked the fuck up. Had new enyin few weeks later and traded it in first week "GM Employee Pricing" was announced :datass:

Low-mounted CAI is certainly not good for any kind of mudding or puddle splashing.

My ghetto CAI is mounted slightly lower than an OEM one would be, but anyway, my Thermac might protect me partially. It gets intake air from a heat stove at the exhaust manifold and mixes with cold air to keep IAT at 115°F (except it switches to cold air when under 6 inches of vacuum), so it blocks off most of the CAI's flow.

I considered some sort of safety valve flap or drain in the CAI at a low point but I don't think it's necessary since my design is so similar to OEM.

stonehenge 07-05-2011 04:08 PM

FIDIL take :gB: mudding :imo
