See foo, wipe that bish. Find an app to backup your sms, may even be one to backup the call log, who knows. Get the "App List" app to save a .txt with all your apps to your sd. Then wipe the fuckin shit out of it.

When is FroYo coming? Has moto not said?

stonehenge 08-07-2010 08:29 AM

Original rumors were the end of August. One rumor says early September. We'll see. I think the only thing that was officially said was "late summer" or something.

I think it is in the next week or so actually, like the 12th. I think they want it to be "the first 2.2 DROID zomg zomg buy it NOW" and then a little later the X and D1 and Inc will get it. Or the Inc may have already received it.. not sure.

JayBo 08-07-2010 09:09 PM

gots it!

stonehenge 08-07-2010 09:35 PM

:shake: oh and I recommend all you bastarfs try out Dolphin Browser HD. I never liked Opera Mini or the Fennec (mobile firefox) betas but this browser is awesome. The way it handles tabs and bookmarks and the graphics for all of it are nice. It also has plugins like AdBlock, bookmark backup, etc and themes. Realllly liking it so far.

JayBo 08-07-2010 09:44 PM

I tried it back when, I wasn't impressed with it but I only had it a couple days

stonehenge 08-07-2010 10:55 PM

Re: Android Thread

So did i and i didn't like it, but im really liking it now. If you try it, make sure you get Dolphin Browser HD, not the normal one.

MikeH 08-08-2010 12:25 AM

Is it really that much nicer? Or is it just nice because you can have flash not on 2.2?

stonehenge 08-08-2010 01:12 AM

I actually like it a lot better, it doesn't even have flash. I like how it handles tabs and bookmarks and the addons/themes are nice.

stonehenge 08-08-2010 04:28 AM

Re: Android Thread

Someone just leaked an sbf for the X! An sbf is an image of the entire device. You flash it to the phone and it restores all partitions. The sbf is non rooted and version .604.

This is good. Now if we brick it, we just flash the sbf and reroot. :pepper:

So far it is definitely possible to flash using linux and MAYBE using XP with RSD Lite.

Will check it out. I thought it was the one that played flash content but apparently I'm thinking of a different browser.

Re: Android Thread

Ah, you're thinking of SkyFire.

Someone already released a black bar (NexTheme) theme for the X. It came out shortly after the sbf lol so I am going to try it. I want to do it now but satellite internet is shit, it is crapping out just because its raining. :blah:

MikeH 08-08-2010 08:33 AM

Download from your phone foo. Do you have a link to it?

stonehenge 08-08-2010 09:34 AM

Here is the info on the SBF: http://alldroid.org/default.aspx?g=p...6459&#post6459

And NexTheme: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dro...id-x-beta.html

Luckily my internet cut the shit and is working again so I just got all the SBF goodies. The SBF file is 200mb+ so I didn't want to wait for 3G to download it. I also didn't want to try the theme until I had all the SBF stuff on my computer just in case.

Now I got all the SBF files, about to start the theme process. :datass: will post screenshots fo'sho.

Oh and I also found this very interesting: http://alldroid.org/LinkClick.aspx?l...bid=40&mid=424

---------- Post added at 01:29 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:00 AM ----------

DO NOT attempt to copy the framework over using RootExplorer instead of the adb/terminal way. It WILL NOT work. :fp:

Currently testing out the new SBF file restore method. :roflmao:

---------- Post added at 01:34 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:29 AM ----------

Wow, awesome. The SBF file just restores the shit that can brick you like the framework, stock apps, etc. After I flashed it, it booted up with WidgetLocker and my wallpaper, all my apps, contacts, etc! It doesn't wipe, it just restores the important system files. This is BAMF :roflmao:

Re: Android Thread

All done btw:

MikeH 08-08-2010 07:24 PM

Do want black status bar but with stock like status icons.

I take it you bricked your shit? :roflmao:

stonehenge 08-08-2010 07:32 PM

Re: Android Thread

Lol ya do not use RootExplorer to replace frameworks. But from teh ashes came the SBF phoenix. :roflmao: worked great. Only thing is you have to activate after using it (*228 option 1).

The icons aren't bothering me, i like them. I hate the high res 3d blue icons that some themes have...

MikeH 08-08-2010 08:07 PM

I'm sure more themes will come along now too. So with the SBF you can get rid of all the bloatware and not worry correct?

Correct. You could remove it before and nothing would happen but if you needed to do a factory reset then you were fucked because doing a factory reset without all the stock apps in place would cause a bootloop.

This SBF file restores everything that matters for a factory reset and everything that could cause a bootloop. So it restores the stock apps, framework, and i'm sure some other important things. But it leaves your 3rd party apps and settings and whatnot in tact, which is nice.

MikeH 08-08-2010 08:37 PM

Nice. People were having trouble with the update without everything in place too so you could just restore so you can update. Pretty damn handy.

stonehenge 08-08-2010 08:58 PM

Yeah, and this will probably encourage devs to play more also.

MikeH 08-08-2010 10:56 PM

Hopefully the SBF for FroYo will leak eventually too.

stonehenge 08-08-2010 11:01 PM

Re: Android Thread

Well at this point the root exploit was fixed so 2.2 wont be rootable right away. We'll need to wait for someone to root it or for some way to keep root when installing froyo which isn't likely until the recovery happens.

Re: Android Thread

Found an app called "simple wallpaper" that let's you pick a color (or two in a gradient) and set it as a wallpaper

MikeH 08-09-2010 01:39 AM

Wasn't really a fan of Dolphin Browser HD. It seemed kinda buggy to me.

stonehenge 08-09-2010 01:46 AM

Re: Android Thread

w/e hater :crossarms:

:roflmao: well so far no bugs for me. If i run into any, I don't mind ditching it because the stock browser is nice too.

MikeH 08-09-2010 03:03 AM

I'm use to the stock browser nd that could be the main reason. Do want my X tho, it gets delivered tomorrow.
