First a 5.9 earthquake with an epicenter 15 miles from me, a 4.5 aftershock the next night, now a hurricane headed straight for me.

I think I'm getting old or something. My natural full-of-myself defenses failed and I've been infected by hurricane fever. I cleaned up some random shit from my yard and strapped my gas grill to a vehicle. I bought extra gas in case I need to run my generator for a while (and I expect I'll be putting it in my wife's car).

I probably didn't need to clean up/strap down stuff, but I sure did need that gas. Power is still out and maybe will be for days. Generator FTW.

I have no water though. My well runs on 240vac so I either need a backfeedcord for that or I need a second 120vac backfeed cord to feed one of the opposing-phase circuits...if I understand correctly.

The cell tower that I usually get 5 bars from must be dead. I can make calls if I stand outside and hold the phone up in the air.

Dammit man. Sorry to hear you guys got pounded up there Rick. Only tragedy here was my tomato plant got knocked over.

Couple of my shop guys who live down in Hanover, about an hour from here, still don't have power, but they're hoping to get it back tomorrow according to the power company.

Our lights didn't even flicker, the TV never went out, no trees down... nothing. We got lucky. I still can't believe how bad New York got hit with the flooding.
