Rigged some ratchet straps and a couple trees to lift the bed off the truck. Took all afternoon, and it fell over sideways after I held it up while the wife drove out from under it. I ended up working with fuel lines under the cab anyway. Fucking flare nuts were seized to the lines again.

Still gonna de-rust the frame while the bed's off.

Juan - every once in a while those trunk inserts pop-up on CV.net. just have to keep an eye on them. also, cheyka motors (or something similar to that) sell them, but shipping would be a pain and potentially kill the deal.

the OEM for one is like $290

I want one but not that bad. I may just make a simple one out of wood eventually. It doesn't have to be carpeted or perfect, I just want to keep all my crap under it so I have a nice big level surface.

Goes in the trunk of the CV, it's as tall as the little "shelves" on the sides of the trunk. So you put jumper cables, jack, etc under there and then have nice big flat surface left over for sub box, stuffs when you go to the store, etc.
