Cam, that 3.9L gets SHIT for mileage. pB's G6 had that engine and it only got 23mpg on the HIGHWAY going to Indiana on several trips.

Yeah, 23mpg highway from a V6 is pretty fucking lame. A V8 CV/MGM pulls 30. When my truck was new I could get 21 from it, and that's pushing a bigass truck with a 5.3.

I get 23 mixed (not highway) from my 1980 carbureted 4.1 V6 in

when I'm impatient.

Honestly, drive it an see if you like it. For whatever reason the 3.9L has never had anywhere close to the fuel economy of its predecessors. That's from my personal experience and reading from others.

Chris - Jeff (nekidhillybilly) told me the 3.5L was sort of slouch in the impalas, so I have been looking for 3.9L. Fuel mileage will be a concern with the car as it will be a daily driver/commuting car.

Hell, le vulva doesn't do great on fuel either. Somewhere around 25-26 going 72ish highway, barely 16ish city. Not for certain on the city, but close on the highway guestimate.

Yea, it is. Les' G6 with the 3.9L would haul ass but it's a pig on fuel.

I would honestly look around for a used Cruze and see what price you could get even though they're only a couple of years old. Great on gas and good quality. Dunno what your budget is though.

My budget is in the neighborhood of 10-12k, so a cruz is out. Even though I do like them. I am trying to do this as low a payment I can with a car I will enjoy driving. If it requires a loan, etc. If I can't find anything in the price range that is enjoyable, I will put a timing belt/water pump/etc on vulva. Already pretty much have the parts for double din install.
