Yack unnecessary. Curb unnecessary. Lay down a couple planks and drive front wheels up onto them. Whatever you do, DO NOT LAY UNDER THE CAR WHILE IT IS SUPPORTED BY THE JACK!!!
Filter wrench usually unnecessary, just get a good grip and twist. Whole socket set unnecessary, should just need one size for drain plug. Dollar Tree has drain pans, or cut open a couple gallon milk/water jugs and prepare for a little bit of cleanup. I use newspaper/junk mail instead of rags for most of my oil change, just one rag a little for final cleanup that newspaper can't do.

When adding oil, check the level (wipe the stick and dip it in again each time) a few times. Once its in the hashed area, start the car for a minute, then shut it off and check the level again and add oil if needed.

Can't hurt, will prevent overfilling it.

If the oil filter installs vertically with the hole at the top, fill the filter with oil before installing. It doesn't really matter but it's a nice little thing you can do for your engine. While you're under the car, eyeball allthethings just in case anything is visibly damaged. If you're going to do every oil change yourself for the rest of the life of the car, buy a grease gun and inject grease into the grease fittings on the front end suspension/steering stuff. No need to worry about it now, but you don't want to ignore it for a dozen oil changes in a row. Pros do it every oil change but that's unnecessary.
