Unless you've got a race car or something known for engine failure (like a Toyota with their sludge issues), any oil is fine...get what's cheap. They all have to meet standards that are newer than lowgmc.
---------- Post added at 10:44 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:43 AM ---------- 5W30 is probably what lowgmc takes. It's pretty much specified for every vehicle for the past 15 years.

the book probably calls for 5w-30 in higher milage engines I run 10w-30

If I was concerned about a worn-out high mileage engine I'd probably go for 5W40, not 10W30. Gotta have that quick oil circulation from the 5 when it's cold, and prolly better to have the thicker protection once it's warmed up.

I'm still using 5W30 with 200,000 miles, for whatever that's worth.

I just remembered something.
I passed someone in yesterday. Dude was doing 35 in a 50 zone and I wanted to get the fuck home. At first I was like "I can do this! " Then I was like Then I noticed the dude's window was open so he was getting an earful of BLATBLATBLATBLATBLATBLAT and he was probably like So I finished the pass and I was all like

Oh, I forgot this:
...then a mile later I stopped at a red light and he caught up, then got in the left turn lane. I could have just waited behind him and still had the same position at the same red light.
