Afternoon fellas.

Just saw CheaperThanDirt is now suspending its online sales of Firearms. I have mixed feelings about this as I feel they are caving to media/political pressures but if they have steps in their ways of sales that need correcting in order to effectively and safely make a sale then maybe not so bad.

Ok, can't move pads and I noticed uneven wear on the old pads. Does this indicate bad caliper?

Sounds like pads are hanging up on the clips. Try a file on the tabs on the pads to open that up some it will slide easy.

Check the slide bolts on the caliper also make sure that not rusted or anything.

If you can push the caliper piston back in with a c clamp pretty easy its prob ok.

Yup, pistons compressed pretty easy. Gonna file on the tabs in minute.

Slide bolts looked good and there's a rubber boot around it, so it stays in good shape

My shit was pretty rusted. Owners manual had a dealership business card from Ohio. Truck was three years old when I got it. Maybe has a bunch of exposure to snow melt and such?

Stuff I got for described it a little differently:

Make approximately 20 complete stops from 30mph, or 20 "slow downs" from 50 mph to 20 mph, with light to moderate pedal pressure.

Allow at least 30 seconds between brake applications for the brake shoes or pads to cool down.

You can do this as part of your normal driving time during the first 100 miles. Try to avoid hard stops during this time.

Note "Try to avoid hard stops during this time." and "light to moderate pedal pressure." The idea is to deposit pad material into the rotor surfaces evenly without making everything too hot.

GM's recommendation is similar.

I chose to do 50->20 instead of 30->0 to avoid uneven depositing/heating that happens at the end of the stop.

Did you take them out, clean the bores, and regrease all with proper brake grease?
