Wan, Bryant wants to tether his phone but there are only 2 ways to do it. Either flash him back to a Froyo RUU and enable it via APN (and hope ATT doesn't notice) or flash a custom ROM.

I really don't want to chance bricking it by attempting to flash back to Froyo, so I'm trying to steer him into a custom ROM. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=964841

Why cant you just root and then use wifi tether?

Because ATT can see the tethering, and will charge for it.

From what I'm reading the kernel needs to have certain code changed for the tethering to not be visible. Simply rooting and using the wifi tether app isn't a workaround.

Samsung does some of the same shit. Can't just root Fassy and use wifi tether.

Lady here at work has unrooted fassy and uses foxfi to tether her iPad.

Bryant doesn't want to pay for separate internet so he's going to be using his phone as his primary source, and I want him to be safe.

Those fixes are also in the latest test kernel the was put out. Too much BS in the glitched AOKP builds.
