Are pcv valves supposed to be one way? One that I took off wasn't and one I put on was...same pn though

REALLY hope the lil mf passes smog this weekend...need it to putt around now that ccsb is low.

With EGR valves....if the motor is running and I push up on the valve diaphragm, is the motor supposed to cut out? I did that and it wanted to die....I think that means the valve is working?

Yes, when you manually push it at idle the motor should want to stall. That means that the valve itself is ok, but of course if some other part of the assembly or something upstream isn't working right then it will never get pushed. In normal operation it doesn't actuate at idle or WOT but should be engaged pretty heavily at part throttle and moderate RPM.

thanks cao....next step is to test egr at like 2-3k....i guess it should move around those RPMs....It didnt pass smog cuz NOX levels were too high...Im thinking it either had vacuum leaks (Which are fixed now) or something else is clogged and not telling the egr to move.

I cleaned out the pcv passage...mf was DIRTY and half clogged...so im thinking the egr system will probably be just as bad. I could have a smog shop make it "pass" but dnw to melt a piston with it running lean like it was and shitty in general....runs WAY better now.

i didn't believe the shop i took it to when they said it was a bad cat, i thought it was something on the engine (the shit you're doing now) but they said they didn't see anything wrong, must be cat. When it passed after the cat I thought I was wrong but I guess I wasn't. fgt shop.

all new hoses and egr/pcv goodies, that thing gonna run smooth as titz

I didnt see anything wrong till i took some hoses off, mf was cracked on the ends...mostly on the bottom towards the motor...probably cuz heat...so u couldnt see it unless u took it off
