So I'm outside in my sandals, loose shorts with boxers underneath, and loose short-sleeve shirt mowing the lawn when all of a sudden my ankle is on fire...then my leg is on fire...then my other leg. I let go of the mower and start running and I realize I'm being attacked by a swarm of bees. I trip and roll around on the lawn for a moment before I get up and start running again. I trip but recover, dropping my mp3 player and earbuds on the concrete sidewalk, and run to the hose to start hosing myself off. There are bees crawling around in my shorts and I got stung on the ass at least once, but luckily the family jewels are undamaged. I evicted the rest from my shorts.


I think I got about a dozen stings.

I haven't been stung in years, possibly decades. I was never allergic. My dad is. I wonder if it develops as an adult...hope not. So far just feels like normal sting pain. Do bee sting allergy symptoms begin immediately?

I went inside and was sitting in the bathroom spraying antibiotic painkiller shit on the affected areas when I spotted another bee that must have come in with me. I crushed it.

Don't bee stings leave the stingers? I can't see them, but I may need a magnifying glass.

Then I got the 25-foot-shot bee spray and went outside to do battle.

Honey bees leave a stinger behind when they sting a victim. Wasps, yellow jackets, and hornets do not leave a stinger.

Ah. Maybe that's why I don't see the stingers. I thought maybe my eyesight isn't as good as it used to be.

Take the victim to the emergency department if the victim was stung more than 10 times, or if there are bee stings inside the nose, mouth, or throat. Swelling from these stings can cause shortness of breath, even in non-allergic victims.

Aggression - Honey bees are generally gentle, almost never display a high level of aggression and do not swarm in defense of the colony. Yellow Jackets are generally move dangerous, as they tend to swam to defend their colony. Even the slightest knock can trigger this behaviour and they are often annoyed at the vibrations of lawn mowers, foot steps and other movements near there nests.

Nesting sites - Honey bees always nest above ground, choosing to place their colonies at the top of high branches, or other such lactation, away from ground predators. Yellow Jackets are not so picky about where they set up home and nest both above and under ground level. This makes it harder to avoid nesting sites, as they can be found nearly everywhere.

Yup, yellowjackets. They sure did swarm in defense of the colony, which was in between two logs separating my driveway from my lawn.

Well it's usually a good idea to put it back to stock before taking it into your carrier but usually all they'll do is tell you it isn't under warranty and you have to fix it or replace it yourself.
