and probably because its in space orbiting the earth not being pulled down by earths gravity......meaning if you jump, you may just float the fuck away.

Technically there's plenty of gravity at that distance, else the space station would continue in a straight line instead of orbiting. If he could jump/be propelled in the opposite direction of the orbit with enough speed to stay above the same spot, as if try to achieve geostationary orbit, he would fall straight down.

Another option would be to jump/be propelled straight towards earth.

The microgravity that the inhabitants experience is because, like the station, they too are at the point of balance of centrifugal and centripetal forces and gravity that results in orbit.
