whats the best way to totally reformat a computer and reinstall windows?

i have this old desktop computer (hp pavilion a1410n) probably within 4-5 years old that i only use as a media center and internet connected to tv. well it has been starting to act up and will turn on and running but then kick off with a BSOD.

If you don't need anything that's on the hard drive then just throw in a windows cd/dvd and when it asks where to install, just delete all the partitions and make one new big one and install onto it.
