Had 50 amp jump start function on battery charger running for 20 minutes. Anyway, voltage never drops; if battery was insufficient, volt meter would dive while I turn it to Start, wouldn't it? I know lights would dim.

I could try replacing battery, I have three batteries charged and ready to go.

idk on my diesel meter would never dive nothing but wouldnt start it. would crank fine for about 5 mins until i killed it from cranking. new batt it starts with one click. apparently enough juice to crank it just not fast enough if that makes sense. also could never start it with a jump box always had to use another car. gas truck shouldnt have as much problem but its worth a shot and easier than climbing under it.

Troll-ass truck, it was battery after all. Replaced battery with charged one from indoors, started right up. Well, glad it was that.

The battery drain is either a short in the voltage regulator (which has been intermittently acting up, overvolting) or something with the plow wiring. Previously I disconnected the winch but left the control box connected and that seemed to prevent drain. I left it a couple weeks and it was fine, plowed yesterday morning, then a few hours later it was totally dead. So, today I disconnected the entire setup instead. We'll see if it starts tomorrow.

I bought a new alternator that I may still put in for the voltage regulator issue. Why I gotta buy entire alternator for that? GMCplz.

My truck once refused to start, waited an hour for my brother to come tow me home. I'd been trying to start it every few minutes just for fun, no dice. He got there and I tried it again, fired right up.

Starters are little shit heads.

Should relocate starter to top front of engine and use quick-release fittings for easy replacement.
