I've gotten to a point where when I do brakes on anything I give a damn about, I seek out all the hardware kits/shims/etc that I can and replace all every time I replace pads (and complete hardware kits when replacing drums).
I add hard drive magnets to filters. I want polyurethane bushings for allthethings on

I should really get in the habit of replacing those shims but its just so easy to swap pads n go You guys have to deal with seized slider pins cuz of the salt huh? I dont think I've ever had any issues with stuff seizing
I might need one of dem magnets....care to elaborate?

I deal with seized allthethings. Slider pins, sure...in fact I replace those if I'm ordering from Rockauto since I can generally throw them into my order for a scant few bucks. I buy bore brushes for guns and mount them in my drill to de-rust the bore where the pins go (for systems with a bore like that; is a different design) after I clean it out with brake cleaner and a rag on a stick. Then I grease the everliving fuck out of it with brake grease.
Magnets: Either buy neodymium magnets from a company that sells them/eBay/Amazon, or salvage a pair of them from a discarded hard drive. Disassemble hard drive with extreme prejudice, the magnets are in the corner where the head's counterweight/electromagnet swivels. ---------- Post added at 01:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:38 PM ---------- ...and if I don't have new pins I give the old ones the same clean/wirebrush treatment.
