IT folks - what media players play a .el8 media file?
The file is an internet/study session stream that was recorded and then posted for download. Just gotta find a media player that will play it. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

Just looked up that extension and it looks like it is a proprietary format created by e-lecta (online course software). From what I'm reading, there isn't a way to play them locally on your computer, you HAVE to use e-lecta's java web player.
There's a way to use their website to play .el8 files saved on other servers (like so: http://e-lectazone.com/tools/play_un...m/YourFile.el8) but I highly doubt that would work with a file on your local machine. Your instructor should have either sent you a playable link for the e-lecta server or uploaded it somewhere else and gave you a link like I mentioned above. More info here: http://support.e-lecta.com/eLectaKB/...aspx?faqid=113 ---------- Post added at 07:58 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:58 AM ---------- If you have a web server running then you can host the file on it and use a link like I mentioned, otherwise that foo needs to give you guys a playable link.

We are testing software called DatAdvantage by Varonis. It's pronounced "data advantage" but every time I see it the way they spelled/capitalized it I think

DatAssassination could be good name for a program that "shreds" files so they can't be recovered.

Hi IT folks!
How do I get a computer to automatically send me an email once it turns on? I tried using SendEmail and this link, but couldn't get anything to work. this is windows 8.1.

According to that link, SendEmail sounds like a good tool for the job. Are you able to use SendEmail from the command line for testing but can't get it to work automatically, or are you unable to even successfully test SendEmail manually?

Also, if this is the official page for Sendmail (seems like it is), it was last updated in 2009. It's a simple tool so that may be fine. I'll try to play with it later. ---------- Post added at 11:28 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:58 AM ---------- ok, after messing with it for a while, I figured out why it wouldn't send (for me). Google disables SMTP access unless you turn on "Less secure apps" here: https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps I enabled that and now I can send with sendEmail using this line: sendEmail -f [email protected] -t [email protected] -u "Test Subject" -m "Test message." -s smtp.gmail.com:587 -o tls=yes -xu [email protected] -xp fromaddresspassword (ew plain text password)

Thanks guys! I was able to figure it out within the Task Scheduler for MS.
Wan - That was really helpful writing it out that way too!

I had to tinker around with the settings. Thinking it had to do with the "less secure apps" checkbox.

Yeah I tried lots of things and it didn't work until i found that checkbox. It doesn't mention SMTP either so it wasn't obvious.
