Predrill it. And if you make frame under so the legs have something to keep them from folding like I said earlier you can screw your legs in the corners of the frame and from the top also.

You want the frame to band around the legs at the top if that makes sense and the leg be in the corner. The top of the leg and frame being the same height. Look at how a floor is framed. Similar but smaller scale without all the cross bracing.

I thought about it...If you want to make it L-shaped, could probably get away with perimeter frame for that shape too. Span from one sheet of plywood cut sideways will only be 2 feet.

Anyway, 2 inch screws are okay for screwing plywood down but are way too short for screwing 2x4's together, they'll barely get through the 2x4 and won't hold shit. I would use 3 inch sheetrock or deck screws. Something like this:

For screwing plywood down, definitely 1 1/2 or 2 inch sheetrock screws.

id use 1x4 or 1x2s for the frame. id only used 2x4s or 2x2s for the legs. for the legs make sure you get good straight lumber.
