When I hear "queso blanco" I just think of white mexi cheese (there are a few kinds) that I'd use to make quesadillas or something. Not a dip.

My mexi place gave me the recipe because I go so much and made friends with one of the guys. Buy 1lb of white american cheese from the deli, can of diced jalapeņos, and milk. I usually just buy the block of cheese and cube it up, put in a pot, heat and add milk, then peppers with juice. Add milk until its creamy enough but you have to cook some of the milk off, if that makes sense (put to much milk then boil off the excess) Tastes just like mexi place here

yes not good like the real thing with the real mexi cheese. best ive had is the real mexi cheese with ground chorizo. i prefer it without the peppers though unless there ground up real fine. they take away the taste of the cheese.

Maybe the mexi places around here are more Sonoran (a state in mx) and yours are a different region. I've never had cheese dip of any kind at a mexi restaurant. They almost all give chips/salsa and some places do guacamole (one makes it at your table, so nom). I'll have to check for sheez dipz next time we go to one but at this point it doesn't feel like OG mexi since I've never had it in Mexico or at one of the restaurants around here. Coworker makes bamf dip w/ velveeta, ground beef, and salsa.
