Called local non-retail cellular store today. They have the Nexus', but couldn't sell/show them and don't know/won't tell when the release date is.

Called another place, he told me they will start selling on the 15th!!! I hope that is correct. He wasn't supposed to release that information...

D1 is fully disassembled. #5 is no longer alive

Everything was disassembled properly, nothing is was broken/torn.

RIP D1 my wife's old one shall go into the drawer as a backup. It isn't defective so it will do. When I get the Nexus in a few months, I'll decide if the D1 stays the spare and I sell the DX or vice versa.

IMO, I will be buying another phone as a backup at some point. Maybe get a Palm Pixi or something, not sure yet.

Pixi has 5GB of free tethering too, be perfect for a backup IMO. Unless you pickup a eris or another D1 on the cheap.

For backups, also look at the BB Pearl 8130. Only like 25$ or less on eBay. Yes, its a BB, but to keep that data plan intact well worth it if you are worried about losing unlimited data.

Only reason that intrigued me as I found my old VZW 8130 today. Backups now consist of a BB Tour 9630 and a BB Pearl 8130.
