Tundra won't fit the plow mount, and is a rehab project before it will even hold a front wheel on, and it's too fucking late now. 4WD on the GMC is a small repair.

4WD on GMC: Front axle won't engage. Mounting surface for actuator motor grew a bunch of corrosion and made actuator motor angle off to the side. Not sure if it's that, or if actuator motor failed, or if wiring to it failed.

I chipped out as much of the corrosion as possible but couldn't get the actuator straight, nor could I remove it. I suspect the plastic housing will break if I crank on it with channel locks.

Floor shifted 4WD had electric-actuated front axles for 15 years before pushbutton became so common. It's not the pushbutton transfer case that has failed here. Manual hubs with my pushbutton system would have prevented this situation, but fuck getting out to shift into 4WD when I'm already stuck...or driving around all winter with the axle engaged.

Well, my axle actuator is definitely broken now. I tried to remove it and just as expected it broke...but not how expected. I thought the plastic housing would crush. Turned out the guts are all plastic too, and the part that screws into the differential broke off of the part that sticks out. The push rod remained sticking out so I tried pushing it in and screwing a piece in to hold it down but I don't think the front axle engaged.
