Unlock a chain from the outside: WTF are they talking about?

Remember to bring important things by leaving them with your keys/shoes/etc: I do this. It works.

Sources for your thesis from bibliography of wikipedia/good book: I do this, it works.

Buy some time by sending a renamed .mp3 file: Fine if your teacher is an idiot, but you're begging to get caught.

Get your thumbdrive back by putting an identification.txt on it: I do this on all my portable media including hard drives. I have no idea if anyone would ever actually look at it.

Get paid to poop: Workpoop FTW.

Free hotel porn and air: I'm skeptical.

Free wi-fi: Adding .jpg at the end will break most URLs. Fail.

Prevent splashing: Why did they illustrate it exactly wrong?

Extend a remote's range: Everyone knows this one. It's never worked for me.

Reboot the credit card machine: I'm skeptical...additionally, WTF is wrong with you if you want to do this to some innocent bystander?

Go straight to your floor: Again, skeptical.

Test a remote: Another option is to aim it at the electric pickup on an electric guitar. You will hear the remote's output converted into sound through the amp.

Extra batteries: The 9v thing is correct. 6 volt lantern batteries are rumored to have C or D cells in them but in actuality they have an odd size that is useless. I'm not familiar with the 12v battery they're talking about. It is a common construction technique for batteries with higher voltage than 1.5, until you get into automotive style batteries (lead acid, etc). Also, battery packs from remote control cars and cordless phones are usually made of rechargable AA batteries.
