It's tough to fool OBDII inspection systems. They only print the sticker after checking (via OBDII connection) your VIN, "ready" status (if your car has completed all its usual tests since the last time codes were cleared), etc.
Dropping the tank isn't so bad if you have the right jack.
This fucker is good for so much more than transmissions...so glad I haz it. Might not be too awful dropping tank without it if you do it when almost empty and use ratchet straps, and maybe a helper.
You can also check other shit before dropping tank. Follow all the wires for that sensor everywhere they go. If high voltage can mean low/high pressure then check filler neck and gas cap, and hose(s) to canister, and canister.
