That article doesn't sound bad at all. Tesla called for the investigation, it wasn't required by law. No one was hurt. When the fires happened, they were towards the front of the car, not the passenger compartment. The cars shut down and gave passengers plenty of time to get out. Tesla added fire damage to their warranty for peace of mind and pushed out a software update that makes the car ride a little higher at freeway speeds since the fires were caused by the car being low at high speeds and hitting debris on the highway.
Tesla seems like legit company.
