I can add a reCaptcha, like this:
I can also add more human verification questions, but I can't think of any that I'm confident will be usable by humans while keeping spammers out. Tiered access is really the only thing that works, it brings each new user to our attention before they're capable of spamming. Not all spam goes in posts, after all.
