be something id ask on the buick boards im not a 100% on what all will work. rick you should have inside the intake two ports that crossover from the heads that put heat in the intake manifold. the pipe on my 307 was just a piece of flexable hose that set on a thing on the exhaust manifold. again the car doesnt need it i took mine off and flip mines lid. the 350s and older v6s didnt have this pipe i think its something they added in the 80s. i dont see it being an advantage really even with the cold.

you could make a shield out of some metal pretty easy just need something that would capture the heat mine wasnt a shield just merely a little thing that was 3 inches by 3 inches with a hole in the center to direct heat into the tube.

Nope, mine doesn't have the intake system that you describe. Yes it's popular among performance enthusiasts to abandon the warm air intake system but my car's fast enough already, what I want is to not freeze my balls off any longer than necessary in winter, and to get better fuel economy.

My shield was a complete cover for the whole manifold, contoured to fit the exact shape with like 1/4" between. Forums for fuel economy abound with people making DIY warm air intake systems, I might end up having to do it like that, but I'm hoping to find an existing one at le junkyard and make a DIY mounting bracket or just tack weld it on to the manifold.

shootermcgavin003 05-30-2013 03:30 AM

well you couldnt see it unless you removed your intake manifold acutally

So I think my speedometer and odometer started going wacky when I put that in.
:ffuuu:

shootermcgavin003 06-04-2013 11:37 PM

so its got something wrong with it after all?

theholycow 06-05-2013 12:19 AM

Yeah. Not sure but I think the gear that drives the cable that goes to the speedometer might be wack. Doesn't make sense how my odometer reads too slow and speedometer reads either just right or too fast (depending on its mood) but never too slow. Also it doesn't turn on the "Cruise" indicator light but IDGAF.
