:shake: Exactly.

I installed this program called RadioGet that lets you listen to and record online streaming radio stations. It was a GiveawayOfTheDay. I usually use the freeware Screamer program.

Anyway, after I installed RadioGet and started running it, I clicked on a station I wanted to listen to, called Boot Liquor. It wouldn't load, so I clicked another station and then another. Finally it started playing. However, it displays "Boot Liquor" as the station no matter what station I'm tuned in to.

Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck by Prong.

Slacker plays better music than Pandora, gives you much more control, doesn't bullshit you with choosing songs that have "partial rhythmic syncopation" and such, and so on...I'll never go back to Pandora, especially since you tell me they now have commercials.

"Check My Brain", a new song by Alice In Chains. I don't care what anybody says, they've done an unexpectedly accurate job replicating the classic AiC sound.

stonehenge 10-06-2009 02:27 AM

The commercials are fairly rare and really short (similar to the ones on Slacker that pop up occasionally telling you to try out the pay version). I actually like both though. I like how you can just pick a genre/station on Slacker. Easy, quick access to different types of music.

theholycow 10-06-2009 02:54 AM

I don't pick the pre-fabricated genre/stations on Slacker. I type in a song I feel like hearing, and it plays that song immediately. Then it goes off in a good direction usually.

get a BB or other supported device and see how badass it is to use Slacker/Pandora from wherever the hell you want :D

That would rock.

For a while I was rocking some streaming radio on my basic phone, which I hooked into my aux-in to listen while driving. It was pretty cool but it ate up the battery and prevented me from receiving calls. I don't get a lot of calls anymore anyway...but now I don't have internet service on my phone.

Yeah it can eat the battery with long-term use so I just keep a cig lighter adapter in my truck so I can charge it if I'm going to be playing it while I drive. I'm not sure about other phones, but on my Blackberry, the music pauses or mutes when a call comes in and continues a few seconds after hanging up.

theholycow 10-07-2009 03:13 PM

I wasn't using the phone's music playing stuff, really, I was more using its web browser and a media player so it was more like I was browing the web than listening to music. Also, it's not a BB, it's just a basic flip phone.
